Warrenton – Mrs. Mary Lou Coxwell Chalker, age 90, beloved wife of the late Billy James Chalker, entered into rest Saturday, November 11, 2023, in the Gibson Health and Rehabilitation.
Mrs. Chalker, a lifelong resident of Warren County, was the daughter of the late Milton Farris Coxwell and Colola Underwood Coxwell. Mary Lou was a 1950 graduate of Warren County High School and retired from the Warren County Board of Education as a bus driver. She was the retired owner/ operator of Mary Lou’s Beauty Salon, as well as an Operator with Southern Bell. Mrs. Chalker and her husband also owned Chalker’s Antiques with locations in Sandersville and Warrenton for many years. She was a member of the Cleopatria Chapter of the Eastern Star, a former member of the Burkhalter Chapter of The Daughters of the American Revolution, and a member of Johnson United Methodist Church and the adult Sunday School Class.
Survivors include her daughter, Belinda Chalker Kitchens, and husband Donald of Warrenton; son, Milton Chalker and wife Kathy of Warrenton; three grandchildren, Adam Chalker and wife Kelly, Price Chalker and wife Harley, Drew Kitchens and wife Kellie; five great grandchildren, James Lee Chalker, Kimberly Brett Chalker, Saylor James Chalker, Millie Ruth Kitchens, and James Beau Kitchens. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her daughter Beverley Charlene Chalker.
A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, November 14, 2023, in Johnson Cemetery with Ms. Betty English and Mrs. Christy Gardner-Keith officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the graveside.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Adam Chalker, Price Chalker, Drew Kitchens, Randy Johnson, Eston Usry, and Charlie Ivey.
The family would like to say a special thank you to the Staff of Gibson Health and Rehabilitation, Chad Johnson, Miriam Thrift Ansley, Lane Thrift, Dr. Joe Wills, and Dr. Chris Sheppard for the exceptional care and love shown to Mrs. Mary Lou during this time.
